As intended

February 5, 2009

This is absolutely as heartbreaking as it’s intended to be.

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The California Supreme Court has been asked to invalidate the marriages of its 18,000 married same-sex couples. Sign the petition to ask them to stop.

Especially the ones with families. Those poor kids!

Great video. And very depressing. I’m one of the 18K, one of the ones who apparently threatened the very fabric of society on a sunny day in June.

I don’t know if the court really cares about such an emotional plea. And I seriously doubt if the Yes folks really care that they’re tearing apart families in the name of “family values.” But for those of us who are already sympathetic, this is a very nice way to crystallize exactly what this means to people who aren’t freaks, aren’t demons, but who are merely people who have a great capacity to love.

I agree — the court’s much more likely to listen to sound legal arguments. But I think they’re definitely swayed at least a bit by their emotions, since otherwise the GLBT community would already be considered a minority throughout the country.

Good luck as one of the 18,000! We’re rooting for you all over the country.

Am trying not to cry. That’s a great video.

Can’t understand how thousands of happy people threaten anyone else. We can only wish good luck to those trying to keep their families together- and work for the day when everyone can get married, everywhere.
